Paul Murdoch

BORN IN Helensburgh, Scotland, Paul Murdoch grew up in Alexandria. He gained an honours degree in Zoology at Glasgow University and has always maintained a strong interest in nature and the outdoors. He also became involved in song writing and, through the years, has played rock guitar in the UK, Holland and America. He worked in Agriculture, where he had a successful sales and management career. His first book, The Magic Scales, a fantasy novel for kids, was published in 2008 and he has had a further 9 titles published since then.

Paul also presents the Clydesider Magazine ‘Just a Minute’ heritage films

The show features live music from local and international bands and artists, comedy sketches, interviews with every day people about interesting hobbies and talents and innovative new business concepts .

Join Jim Smart for Episode 4 of 'Real People' where he will be chatting to Suzanne and Kris from Pictureyou Photography - Loch Lomond, who were recently the victims of criminals on Facebook, having had their business page and bank details compromised on the social media platform. Due to this breech, the couple lost their business facebook page and money was stolen from their linked bank account to pay for the hackers advertising. They also had serious issues trying to speak to someone at Facebook to resolve the issues.

 

President of the Mummers Theatre Group, John Clark, also popped in to discuss how the pandemic has affected the West Dunbartonshire club and their plans for the future.

 

Jim will also be sharing an exclusive video for his own song 'Bonnie Scotland', including videos and pictures taken on his travels around Scotland during the pandemic

Jim Smart will be chatting to Sandra Reilly from Sandra's Cafe in Alexandria, who is hanging up her apron after 31 years in the premises. Sandra will be sharing some of her memories with us, telling us how she coped during both lockdowns and discussing how the bullying of her friend's son resulted in Alexandria's first ever Gay Pride Event back in 2019.

 

Jim will also be chatting to Richie Hagan, who will be performing an acoustic version his new song 'Glasgow Lights', live in the studio.

This is the second of the shorter 30 minute shows, broadcasting on Sundays at 7pm

The show features live music from Jack James Mullen and Alfie J King, who will both be performing their own songs and chatting about their recent success at the Young Scots Awards. The talented youngsters scooped an impressive 2 awards at the event including 'Unsung Hero' and the top accolade 'Young Scots of the Year!' after performing free shows outside nursing homes during the height of the pandemic.

 

We will also be delving into the world of magic as local man Josh Tevendale joins us in the studio. Josh will be discussing how he went from cruising the world as an entertainer to returning home due to the covid pandemic and performing free doorstep magic shows around West Dunbartonshire to raise peoples spirits. He will also be performing some of his tricks in the studio - Watch out HP!

Our debut episode features an interview with John McArthur from Alexandria, who regularly takes a dip in the freezing cold water of Loch Lomond for his physical, mental and emotional well being.

Talented local singer, Charlie McFarlane, who now stays in Australia, will be discussing life down under and performing his latest song "Safe and Sound"

Jim is also interviewing Alan Caldwell and Paul Lucas, from West Dunbartonshire's new radio station RIVER RADIO about how the station went from an idea to a huge success in just a few months

And... comedy drag sensation Rita Riot will be causing mayhem in the studio.  Fasten your seatbelts!
